Examinations
There will be one mid-term examination and the final
examination.
At this time (January 16, 2009) I have not decided
upon the exact format of the exams. I may give a mixture
of
closed-book, timed problems, similar to those given last
year, and somewhat more ``open-book" problems as
take-home questions.
Last year's problems were based on qualifying exam questions from
previous years.
The winter 2008 mid-term and the
final exams are available
as PDF files to give you
guidance on the level of problems to expect
again this year. Note that the final exam is labeled as
a ``Mid-term Examination" on the cover sheet.
